Hazardous Materials & Air Dangerous Goods In compliance with the safety regulations set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA), the following are the nine (9) classes of hazardous materials/air dangerous goods prohibited to be transported in the air system: - Explosives
- Gases
- Flammable Liquids
- Flammable Solids
- Oxidizing Substances & Organic Peroxide
- Toxic & Infectious Substances
- Radioactive Materials
- Corrosive Materials
- Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods
For your safety and protection, Airpak Express and United Parcel Service do not transport hazardous materials - please call for specifics and/or clarification. Additionally, the following have been designated prohibited items and are not accepted for shipment within the Airpak/UPS system: - Cash
- Jewellery
- Firearms
- Substances/Drugs prohibited by law
Airpak Express’ Lien -
Airpak Express shall have a lien on the shipment, so long as the shipment remains in its possession, for all amounts due to Airpak Express in connection with the shipment -
Airpak Express, lien may be enforced by public or private sale of the shipment, as a whole or in parcels, at any time or place, and on any terms which are commercially reasonable, after notifying all persons known to Airpak Express as claiming any interest in the shipment. Before any sale, a person claiming a right in the shipment may pay the amount necessary to satisfy the lien and the reasonable expenses incurred in its enforcement. Shipments acceptable under special conditions Shipments in the following categories will be accepted for transportation only when advance arrangements have been made with Airpak Express. -
Shipments with a declared value of $20,000.00 or more -
Shipments likely to impregnate or otherwise damage equipment or other shipments -
Shipments requiring special attention, protection, or care en route. Service Guarantee Airpak Express will as its option, either refund or cancel the applicable shipping charges when it fails to meet the published delivery commitment in this guide. -
Airpak Express must be notified in writing within ten (10) calendar days from the date of shipment. The notification must include the customer account number, airbill number and sub-part number (if any), and the date of shipment -
This guarantee programme is for domestic express shipments only, and does not apply to any shipments weighing over 70 pounds -
A refund or cancellation will not be given for shipments delayed due to incorrect addresses or to the unavailability or refusal of a consignee to accept delivery or to sign for the package, or unavailability of consignee during regular business hours -
This guarantee does not apply for shipments which are delayed due to causes beyond Airpak’s control including, but not limited to the following: acts of God, riots, strikes, or other labour disputes, air traffic control delays, disruptions in air or ground transportation networks due to events such as weather phenomena and natural disasters, and road blocks and demonstrations -
Package consolidators are not eligible for this guarantee programme. Perishable goods shipments Shippers are responsible for protecting their perishable goods shipments for up to two (2) days. Also, perishable goods shipments will not be accepted on the day prior to a holiday or weekend. Exception: Perishable shipments picked up on Fridays must be protected for 72 hours. Bodily fluids shipments -
Shipments of bodily fluids (blood, plasma, semen, urine, tissue, excrement, etc.) either human or animal, must be packaged in shipper provided containers able to withstand leakage of contents, shocks, pressure changes, and other conditions incidental to ordinary handling in transportation -
The sender assumes sole responsibility for compliance governing specific packaging and quantity requirements for diagnostic or clinical specimens -
Airpak Express reserves the right to refuse any bodily fluid shipment not packaged as stated in a and b above Note: A clean up fee of $2000.00 per shipment will be charged to paying party in the event of leakage. Airpak Express will decline to transport any bodily fluid shipment which does not conform to a, b or c above.
